Marijuana sales near $10 billion in Michigan, a few years after legalization

NOV 27, 2024 – Michigan is on the verge of surpassing $10 billion in legal recreational marijuana sales since its legalization in 2019. Demand has surged, with both the production and sale of marijuana increasing each year; however, prices have plummeted as Michigan growers, restricted to selling only within the state, have expanded their operations even more significantly.

Michigan has firmly established itself as a premier market for marijuana sales, remaining resilient despite notable price reductions that may be advantageous for consumers but raise alarm bells within the industry.

The state reported cumulative sales of nearly $9.7 billion through October and is averaging $279 million a month. At that pace, sales will likely exceed $10 billion in the first week of December.
