Trump has appointed a new prosecutor to replace the one who had threatened a medical marijuana dispensary.

The Department of Government Efficiency under the Trump administration is heralding the cancellation of yet another federal grant associated with marijuana, specifically targeting a program that has traditionally assessed the potency levels of cannabis present in seized illegal products.

The University of Mississippi has long held the contract as the exclusive federally authorized cultivator of marijuana for research, a position it has maintained for decades. Additionally, it has received funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to assess cannabinoid levels, including THC and CBD, in seized cannabis.

The termination of that contract aligns with DOGE’s commitment to implementing substantial cuts in government expenditure.
