FDA deciding future of CBD industry in public hearing

The FDA is taking its first step in setting new regulations for cannabis Friday, holding a public hearing to dive into what its regulatory strategy should address. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb has expressed concerns about companies making claims of the health benefits of CBD. But he also recognizes regulations are needed to provide clarity for companies that want to market cannabis products. Potential safety issues are expected to be a major topic at the hearing.
