A juvenile detention center employee in Detroit has been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly supplying marijuana gummies to four teenage residents. The employee, who worked as a mentor at the Detroit Juvenile Detention Center (JDF), is accused of providing the controlled substance to four 17-year-old boys.
The alleged incident came to light when JDF staff noticed the teenagers exhibiting unusual behavior, described as “lethargic, incoherent, and in an impaired mental state.” The four minors were promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment and were later released on the same day.
An investigation was immediately launched by detention center officials, leading to Robinson’s arrest on July 3, 2025. He has since been charged by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy with four counts of furnishing a controlled substance (marijuana) to minors, an eight-year felony, and four counts of furnishing contraband to prisoners, a five-year felony.
Prosecutor Worthy condemned the employee’s alleged actions, stating, “There is simply no excuse for the defendant’s alleged behavior. It is especially reprehensible because the defendant was supposed to be a mentor to the young men housed at the JDF — and not a catalyst for criminal con
The employee was arraigned and granted a $5,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. He is scheduled for a bond re-determination hearing on July 9, 2025, with a probable cause conference set for July 15, 2025, and a preliminary examination for July 22, 2025.
